The Impact of Resilient Factors on the Mental Health of Senior High School Students

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of resilient factors on the mental health of senior high school students. The study sample consisted high school students in 12th grade from city Ulsan. The survey was done from October 22, 2007 to November 2, 2007. The results from the research were as follows: 1) The mean score of mental health was 9.22. The 26.2% of the sample had the problem of mental health. 2) The result of multiple regression analysis indicated that all of the resilient factor predict the level of student¡¯s mental health. 3) It was analysed that the main effect and mediating effect model of resilient factors on student¡¯s mental health through structural equation model. As a result, mediating model of resilient factors showed that resilient factors act as buffers against negative effects of stress. According to these findings, social work intervention strategies focusing on increasing resilient factors were suggested.
